Every so often a game comes along that presents a very straightforward and unique premise, then delivers on that premise with total commitment. Initially titled simply “Goose” in its original reveal trailer, then listed by its publisher as Untitled Goose Game when submitted for show at an indie games festival showcase, the second title stuck. The marketing slogan “It’s a lovely morning in the village, and you are a horrible goose” perfectly encapsulated the impish energy the presentation brings to what is ultimately mechanics-wise a pretty straightforward stealth game and the final product is just the right level of difficulty and length to be accessible to a wide audience. I feel like it would take a lot of energy to dislike this game.
